Harrison Moore

Creative Thought Partner

I have a hunch that if we want to learn how to write well and enjoy it, things like talent, imagination, networks, communities, and resources are important—but I think something not enough people are talking about are constraints. My big bet is that if we can become students of constraints—learn how to configure the right type and the right degree of constraints around a writing project—the work will feel inevitable.

Harrison, Jonathan, and I unpacked so much in this episode. We could have easily talked for hours. That’s the beauty of Substack Live. Time kind of just evaporates.

This was my second one and I’m absolutely loving it. There’s something to be said about raw, unfiltered, unedited content in the age of instant perfection.

The main topic we focused on was this quote for David Perrell:

The only thing that's going to matter is going to be the objective quality of a piece of writing. I think in 10 to 15 years that is the only thing that'll matter. Just as when I walk into a club or some bar and I hear the song, I don't care how it was made. I don't care who made it. All I care about is that the song is a vibe. I think it's going to be the same thing with writing. I don't care if AI wrote it for you. I don't care if AI wrote it with you. I don't care if you wrote it by yourself.

It’s a spicy take and you’ll definitely want to get Harrison’s perspective.
